1 room in charming Coolidge Corner 2 bedroom with lots of natural light!
About the apartment: An absolute steal. I pay $1325+150 for parking (tandem spot but really hasn’t been an issue); my roommate has lived here for 7 years and the rent has only been raised $50 once when a new lease was signed. Utilities run $20-$50... for gas+electricity + $50 for internet.
In a small older building with 5 other apartments, bringing with it the quirks and charm of 1820s buildings. On the second story. Tall ceilings, beautiful natural light; my room is at the front and her room is at the back so they are nicely separated by the long dining/living room. The kitchen has granite countertops, a nice gas range, and a dishwasher, but one of the lower cabinet doors is missing (pros and cons of having an absent landlord—we’ve been able to get things fixed quickly that are actual issues, but things like this don’t seem to be her priority). My room is spacious with a good closet. There is a small porch that is ours alone; sitting outside reading and people watching with snacks and a drink among my potted plants has been wonderful. Laundry is coin operated in the basement
About the location: Seriously could not get better. Just around the corner from the movie theater. It takes me 20-25 minutes to walk to Longwood Medical Area; biking or bus 66 are also easy. The drive when I’m on nights or being lazy is 7-10 minutes depending on traffic. Everything is a 2-5 minute walk: Healthworks gym for women, Boston Yoga Union, the library, Trader Joe's, tons of restaurants, some cute small parks. Downside of this: it can be noisy at times with firetrucks and cars (I think it would be better if I took my AC unit out after summer and just closed the window)
About my roommate, Sophia: In her 30s-maybe 40? Works at the MFA in community outreach and education, super sweet, very private, quiet, calm, regimented in her life (a lights out by 9pm, knitting on Sunday morning kind of person) and easy to live with.
