One Western Ave - one room in 3b/2b
Looking for a third roommate! Female-identifying preferred due to shared bathroom. Move-in date flexible, any time in June. Bedroom/shared bathroom in fully-furnished 3-bedroom/2-bathroom in Harvard housing’s One Western Ave. building (Harvard... affiliation required), with lots of additional amenities included.
Previous roommate is willing to sell any/all of their furniture so your room can be completely set up before you move in! (See last 4 photos, prices very negotiable).
[The apartment] • The apartment is on the 5th floor and has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. • Your room is a great size, 9’10”x10’6”, with a large bathroom that you will share with one other person (Isabelle — female, very clean!). The bedroom is very bright with a large south-facing window receiving direct sunlight from ~9am to ~4pm and a nice view of the Boston skyline, has an excellent central heating and AC system (each room’s temperature controlled independently using the controller inside the room), and has a large built-in closet. Bathroom is spacious with a full bathtub/shower and tiled floors. • Shared spaces are a large kitchen and living room, 17’5” x 12’3”, which is furnished from current/previous roommates (sofa, table, shoe racks, etc), and a communal closet for storage. The kitchen is also fully equipped with shared items such as a microwave, toaster, pots, pans, utensils, etc., individual cabinet spaces, a shared fridge, and an excellent dishwasher. The entire apartment has faux wooden vinyl floors (easy to clean!). • Common areas outside our unit include three study rooms on our floor (two of which have beautiful views of the river), a common room that you can reserve for larger parties (includes a full kitchen with oven, etc. — excellent for hosting), a gym in the building right next to ours, indoor bike storage with bike repair stations inside, and two laundry rooms on the first/ground floor. The HBS campus and SEC are right next door and has lot of indoor and outdoor work and social spaces, including the Schwartz Common and Pavilion, which has a firepit for cold fall/winter nights! • The building requires card access to enter and to use the elevators/stairs, plus the apartment has its own key, so it is very safe and convenient.
[Roommates] • Your roommates will be 1) Isabelle (F) - PhD candidate in experimental physics, and 2) Karan (M) - HKS fellow. You will only share the bathroom with Isabelle. Karan's room has a separate bathroom. • Since this is Harvard housing, Harvard requires all the lessees to be Harvard affiliated. This is non-negotiable.
[Lease] • Latest move-in date is July 1; earliest is June 1, especially if you are buying furniture. The lease ends June 30, 2027, and can be renewed yearly online. • The rent is $1468 (all utilities and internet included and fixing any issues in our unit is done through Harvard Housing, free of charge! It's a pretty good deal.).
[Location] This is an absolutely amazing apartment if you work in the SEC or business school. Serviced by the Harvard shuttle, there’s also a bus to Central, and an easy commute to Cambridge campus, red line connections, etc.
o Harvard square: 8 minutes by bike or 18 minute walk. Red line stop, bus connections, and all Harvard shuttles. o Central Square: 8 minutes by bike or 16 minute walk. Red line stop and bus connections, including Harvard M2 shuttle. Lots of restaurants, coffee shops, groceries (Hmart, Whole Foods, Daily Table, etc.), and useful stores (CVS, Target, Walgreens, Pill Hardware, etc.). o Harvard main campus: 8-10 minutes by bike. The Allston Loop Harvard shuttle stops at our doorstep with connection to Harvard yard, Harvard law school, and SEAS buildings. o School of Engineering and Applied Sciences campus (SEC): 2 minutes by bike and 7 minutes’ walk. Additional Harvard shuttle connections here (Quad-SEC, Allston Loop). o Trader Joe’s: 5 minutes by bike and 11 minutes’ walk. o The newly finished Enterprise Research Campus is right across the street, has a coffee shop, hotel+restaurant, and book store. o Whole Foods Market: 4 minutes by bike and 10 minutes’ walk. o Star Market, Petco: 10 minutes by bike. o Allston/Brookline easily accessible by 66 bus (20-30 mins) or bike (15-20 mins). o Garage parking available for purchase through Harvard transportation. Your guests can pay for hourly parking in the HBS lot next door.
