PhD student looking for roommate in spacious 2 bed 1 bath apartment in spring hill in somerville

Looking for roommate in a spacious 2 bed, 1 bath in Spring Hill in Somerville!

The house has two bedrooms, a kitchen with sitting area, living room, two porches, and a small additional room. The total rent is $2700 with a larger and a smaller...
bedroom—likely a $1300 / $1400 split, open for discussion. Amenities include laundry in the basement and a large storage closet + space for storage in the basement. No driveway, but I have a car and the street parking isn’t too bad. It is a second floor walk up and unfortunately is not very disability-accessible.

A little about me: i’m a 27 year PhD student in physics at harvard entering the last few years of my program. i love to hang out with friends—in the summer i like to walk around, go to the beach, or go dancing, and in the winter i like to watch movies and play games. in my home, i like to host little gatherings and if we’re up to it the occasional (small) party. i do like to hang out from time-to-time with my roommate, but i mostly keep to myself. i have a partner and she typically spends a few nights a week at the apartment. overall, it is very important to me to cultivate a warm and welcoming space. for example, many of my friends are from marginalized identity—queer, trans, poc, immigrant, etc—and you will be an active part of making sure everyone feels comfortable in the home.

We will be a good roommate fit if you value building strong communication with a roommate. It is very important to me that my roommate feels comfortable in the home to be themselves, express feelings and concerns around roommate-related matters, and overall call our space a home. For me, a part of this is being able to hear and express to each other when something is needed, and another part is to hold kindness when things don’t go perfectly.

Some more logistical roommate matters: i’m looking for somebody tidy but understanding. i keep the house tidy and organized, but i understand when things get busy and slip through the cracks. i am very flexible in how i go about house maintenance—e.g. having a cleaning schedule vs not having one. we can work out whatever system works for us!

I’m looking forward to hearing from you, if this sounds like a good fit, please do get in touch!
